About Rage Hairdressing Salon

Here at Rage we have a very close knit team of talented and experienced hair stylists. Our staff are thoroughly trained and offer the latest in styling and colouring techniques, personal and expert advice and service. Here's a little bit about some of our team:

Creative Director - Terry Steventon

Terry has been working in hair for over 30 years! He originally wanted to be a fashion designer, but after getting a Summer job in a hair salon he realised that he really enjoyed hairdressing and that it would be a great way to meet girls! ( typical teenager )

After several years with a large Bournemouth based group of hairdressers he went on to teach at the Bournemouth Hairdressing Academy, working his way up to Director of Training within 2 years.

In the mid-80's Terry decided to get back into hairdressing for real - he joined a failing local salon and built up the business, tripling the turnover in one year!

It was at this stage that he met Vicki (yes that's not just a coincidence, Vicki and Terry are a husband and wife business team) more about Vicki below.

In 2003 they opened Rage with a friend. The aim was to create a high fashion salon, without the intimidation that you often get at other high fashion salons. In 2007 they bought their business partner out and the business has gone from strength to strength.

Terry still cuts hair on the salon floor and loves to keep his hand in with both mens and ladies styling, as well as overseeing and directing the team whether in the salon or when seen in a more high profile level like competitions and seminar work, ensuring the creative vision of Rage remains strong!

Terry is still an educator, he has been a mentor for two local colleges, a demonstrator for many product companies and is a very skilled session hairdresser known for creating the Rage signiture looks that can be seen in the many photographic images both on this web site and in many magazines.

Salon Manager - Vicki Steventon

Vicki originally wanted to be a Professional Ice Skater , Vicki's numerous wins and many trophies had brought her to the attention of the producers and artistic directors of several ice shows, however she suffered an injury to her leg prior to being signed for Holiday on Ice and had to put her dreams on ice instead. Vicki decided to steer her artistic talent into hairdressing instead, she trained with a major salon group until marrying Terry and starting their first salon together in 1989.

Unfortunately in the 90's her health suffered and she had to cut down on hairdressing and took the time to honing her management skills This worked out quite well for Vicki and Terry's latest venture Rage, as Vicki could take on the administrative work, whilst Terry looked after the creative side of things.

Dealing with the management of the salon has not always been easy, buying out their business partner, guiding Rage through a global recession and with Terry rebuilding the salon after a major fire have been tough but rewarding, Vicki has had to  learn many different skills to deal with the tasks and challenges of running a business, but her main passion is making sure that all clients have a great time at Rage and leave feeling wonderful.

Senior Stylist - Elli

Elli was originally from Cumbria and moved to Bournemouth several years ago. She has over 7 years experience as a stylist.

Elli loves creating edgy hair styles and has gained a reputation for creating some of the more 'out there' styles which Rage have always been well known for," it was the chance to work somewhere that could help me channel creativity that attracted me to Rage"

Having said that, she is a very experienced and proficient hair stylist and can turn her hand to more classic, modern styles too.

In her spare time Elli loves listening to Rock music, watching comedy shows and hanging out with her mates.

Senior Stylist - Nat

Nat has been a hairdresser for over 9 years. She has always been creative and wanted to channel that creativity into a fun and challenging career. Nat trained with a well known chain of hairdressers before moving on to an independent local salon and finally coming to Rage.

Nat says:

'I chose Rage because of their reputation nationally as a very creative salon, i new i would find the standards challenging also it seemed a lovely place to work, great atmosphere! I was also really impressed with Rage's competition success and was keen to do more competition work myself'

This has worked out well, as Nat has recently reached the Regional Finals of the Loreal Colour Trophy Men's Image!

So what does Nat get up to in her spare time:

'I love travelling and recently came back to the UK after working in Canada and America. I've got 5 horses, so they keep me pretty busy - I'm hoping to have time to compete with them this year in Show Jumping and Cross Country'
